I had a long day of shopping with Mom today, which was very nice and also productive. Luna had a long day of bird watching. So we decided to take a little snooze on the bean bag chair with the GIR blanket. A little weekend relaxation is always good.

Day 118

I showed up to work today with a big swollen bruise on my forehead from my face plant into the wall last night. I actually covered up the bruise pretty well with makeup, but as Mat rather accurately described it, the left side of my face looked "a little Cro-Magnon-like." Sweet, which way are the auditions for the next Geico commercial? Upon relaying the story of my unbelievable clumsiness, Mat started teasing me that I needed to get Life Alert. I laughed about it at the time, but sadly enough, he might be right. I may actually benefit from having an "I've fallen and I can't get up" button.

I am such a klutz! Tonight's accident happened as I was coming out of the shower. There was apparently water on the floor, and I slipped. Luckily, my face was there to catch my fall. Even more luckily, Mom made sure to send me off to my new place with an ice pack. She knows me well.

Michelle Squared is spent! Hip hop has proven to be a more difficult endeavor than I anticipated. Especially now that it's getting a little warmer, and oh yeah, high schools don't have air conditioning. Just when I think I've got the dance somewhat down, we learn a new part. Have I mentioned how badly I suck at this? Still totally fun though.

I got these Nikes back in 2006 when I first joined Lucille Roberts. Surprisingly, they aren't falling apart yet. Years of the treadmill, elliptical, a myriad of exercise classes, and general every day use has molded them to fit my feet rather perfectly. The silver and pink is what originally sold me on them. I wanted cute and girly - I got it. I feel like maybe 5 years is a long time to have the same pair of sneakers. Too long? Perhaps. But I'm not really sure I can part with them.

It's Luna's first Easter. But Easter really means nothing to me anymore, and we didn't do anything to celebrate it. So I took this picture of her licking my face. All you need is love.

I'm very happy about the fact that I have all of my stuff out of storage. This includes my collection of cool coffee mugs. Katie got me this one while she was in Ireland for Chris and Anna's wedding. It has become one of my favorite mugs. Actually, it might be the favorite mug. Either way, there's coffee in it, and that's the important thing. Priorities.

I've always thought casual Fridays should involve pajamas. But maybe that would fall into the category of way casual Friday. Jeans are a good second place though. I won't complain.

Eye of the tiger

I worked out my pent up nervous energy, aggression, and general bad mood. It felt great while I was doing it, and that inspired me to push myself even harder. What I had actually done to my body started creeping up on me while I was walking out of the gym. Muscles I didn't realize I had were making themselves known, and other muscles and tendons felt tight, and my ankles were feeling a little weak. I'm going to pay for this tomorrow. But damn, it was worth it.

Wii Fit Plus told me I'm 39 years old. And I gained 5 pounds. I'm really not unhappy about that part because I was getting too thin. Never thought I'd hear myself say that again. But 39?! Come on! I don't feel anywhere near 39. Most days I feel about 92. Get it right, Wii Fit.

Toofus doofus

Everything always looks this blurry when I'm tired. But, tired or not, I have to brush my teeth every night before I go to bed. Brush, then floss, then rinse with the purple Listerine (it's the fluoride one). Two years ago, I had to get two cavities filled. The cavities were in between my teeth. After that unpleasant experience I swore that would never happen again, and my nightly teeth cleaning regimen was born. Since then I haven't had a cavity. One of my teeth did randomly fall apart though - that was disturbing. But that happened in Tampa, and I like to pretend that most of what happened there was all a bad dream anyway.

Chris is one of the people for whom I am thankful in my life. He has been a constant, wonderful, warm presence since I met him. He has adopted me as his little sister, and he's seriously the best adopted brother/friend a girl could hope for. He has been there for me countless times, pulled me out of moods or panic attacks when I thought no one could, and on top of all that, he gives excellent hugs. We also laugh a lot because we're both incredibly silly.

I met Chris at Abstraction. He thought I hated him for weeks, because apparently I throw off a pretty strong vibe of being unapproachable. All of that changed when he sat down next me one week and told me I had a mission - don't let him drink as much as he did last week. That made me laugh and sparked a conversation, during which we decided that we had potential to become great friends. And that's just what happened.

This was the first time in a while that I have gone out of my way and tried to pull myself together enough to be seen in public. Chris's birthday is important enough to me where I did just that. I did my hair, carefully applied my makeup, put on a cute outfit... and the bum shoes. Hopefully no one will look too closely at my feet. Time for fun!

The likelihood of getting up and doing anything else for the rest of the night is extremely low. I might be able to accomplish rolling over to turn on the TV. But maybe I'll just read.

It's time to face the facts - I need new shoes. I got these shoes just before starting at Vitamin World, so they've had a good nearly 3 year run. I can't complain. But, as you can see, they are starting to show their age, and I prefer to not look like a bum. The same thing is happening to the brown pair I got on the same day as these. The situation is clearly desperate. Who wants to take me shoe shopping?

This is my sad face about hip hop being canceled tonight. It has become a part of my weekly routine and something to look forward to. Tonight's class was unexpectedly canceled, so they tacked on another class for May 10th. At least I get another week of hip hop in May. So... now what?

For the love of Michaels

I bought a fuzzy poster tonight. I was at Michaels to pick up a few other things, and I decided that it was time for more art therapy. Luna is apparently a fan of fuzzy posters too - she already chewed a corner off. I guess she just wanted to make her own special contribution to the art project. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Luna and I celebrated the 100th day of my blog tonight. We even made a silly sign. I'm impressed with myself that I've kept it up this long, and it inspires me to keep going. Happy 100th day!

Gotta catch 'em all

Day 99

I spent a good portion of my day and most of my night helping Katie & Steve move into their new pad in Copiague. That's why I look so disgusting in this picture. Hours of moving stuff makes me look this way. Kind of horrifying, isn't it?

As we were moving some things out of their old place in Smithtown, Steve handed me a little plastic statue. I was told that this was very important, and I was now charged with making sure this Pokemon got to the new place safely. I took this job very seriously, and put him in the pocket of my sweatshirt for safe keeping. As you can see, I successfully accomplished this mission and introduced him to his new home.

The real world

I'm enjoying the last few days with the Sumo sack - also known as the ridiculously large bean bag chair. It has served me well, but my mom has found it a good home. I think it's time to move up in the world and get a couch - like a real person. The whole college dorm room feel is cool, but I already did that 10 years ago. I'm wearing the big girl pants now, so I think it's time for a couch.

This is another carbon copy gamer version of myself. I just changed her outfit, so I thought I'd throw her into the blog.

When I first made my XBox Live account, I wanted to have my gamer tag as Nyx. Not only was Nyx the shortened version of my cat's name (Onyx), but it's also the Greek goddess of the night. That gamer tag was taken, so they suggested MadNyx07. It made me laugh because, of the 2 cats, Onyx was always the cranky one. He was most definitely "my" cat, personality wise. That's why I picked him. He had issues. He needed me. And 7 is my favorite number, so the 07 part worked out well too.

And so, this is me, in the land of XBox 360. I kind of wish I had that shirt in real life. And the boots.

Memory Lane

This is what I decided to do with the weird memo board thing I got at Target when I was still living in Tampa. I decided to make it an "older" photos montage. The newer photos are in the other frame, which hangs in the living room area. I still have more that I want to put in frames on the shelves, but that will come with time. I thought this was a nice tribute to times gone by, and it's always good to surround yourself with happy memories.

Check out the awesome socks that Clem got me for my birthday (one of 3 pairs). I loved the little catch phrase on them. I will wear them happily, and most likely in public, and will show them to a lot of people... who won't really care, but will smile and humor me. Fun socks are the best.

Big thanks to Mom for making sure I'm well fed my first few days in the new place. Tonight, I enjoyed pancakes for dinner. Last night, I had lasagna. I probably won't even have to go shopping until May!

Geek Squad

It's my first full day in the new place, and my friend Clem was nice enough to come over to set up my TV and 7 million gaming systems. He also brought me the birthday present he got for me months ago, so I'm now the proud owner of 3 new pairs of cool socks and a penguin book. I give him credit for putting up with me while I ran around like a chicken without a head trying to put everything away. But at least we watched some Invader Zim and had a celebratory Peach Snapple, since I'm a jerk and didn't get wine like I said I would. Sometimes I'm not sure why my friends put up with me, but I'm glad they do.

This is the awesome shirt that Mom & Ron got for me in Australia. This is the way I would like to eventually be able to live my life. As a natural worrier, I don't think that will ever actually happen, but it's a nice thought.

This isn't an April Fool's joke. This is really me letting myself into my new apartment. The official move date is tomorrow, but I stopped by this evening to get the keys and drop off a few things. I'm so excited!
